One on One, by Tabitha King
Published in 1984, paperback.
Tabitha King, to answer your questions, is
indeed the wife of Stephen. Their writing is extremely different,
despite the fact they both place their stories in Maine.
One on One is a book that I cried and laughed
over. It affected me deep in my soul. The story revolves around
a high school romance between the town's hero and star athlete,
and the town pariah, and a damn good athlete as well. As the
basketball season progresses the romance between the two deepens
and stereotypes are challenged. This story is more complex than
I can describe here, I cannot do it justice. It is more than
a romance, more than a teen love story. This book is about human
nature, the horrors of trauma aftereffects, and our prejudice.
If you read this book you will never forget it, and you might
even read it again.
